Biodiesel Quality Report 2020
Biodiesel from Germany and Austria is one of the highest quality in the world. This is shown by the Biodiesel Quality Report 2020 of the Association Quality Management Biodiesel (AGQM), which has just been published.
Since 2010, AGQM has published the annual Biodiesel Quality Report on the quality of the biodiesel produced and traded by its members. This report shows the results of the unannounced sampling at producers and warehouse operators of the respective year.
In 2020, three sampling campaigns were carried out, showing excellent and consistent biodiesel quality compared to the previous year. Also due to the admission of new members, the number of samples analysed could be further increased compared to 2019. In the 1,562 analysis data obtained as a result, only four exceedances of the standard rejection limit were detected.
The unannounced sampling is an effective means of detecting abnormalities and taking countermeasures as quickly as possible. AGQM and its members thus make an important contribution to supplying the fuel market with excellent quality biodiesel, which at the same time reduces greenhouse gases in the existing fleet. In this context the low results of metals (alkaline metals, alkaline earth metals and phosphorus) should be highlighted, as these are classified as critical for the exhaust gas aftertreatment system. The measured values well below the limit value of the standard thus also indicate the suitability of biodiesel in higher blends such as B20 and B30 for use in modern vehicles. Consequently, the use of high-quality AGQM biodiesel already offers the possibility of making an active contribution to climate protection.
